This is a really important subject to be talking about! The plight of queer refugees is heartbreaking, compounded by the fact that governments around the world are remarkably reluctant to accept queer refugees.

The UK is embroiled in controversy right now over not accepting refugees from Uganda.

The US is not embroiled in controversy, but we probably should be. We hardly accept any queer refugees, not even when the need is severe and easy to demonstrate.

The Biden Administration has kept refugee policy screwed down very tight. Tiny Canada accept more queer refugees than we do. So does Sweden.

Our immigration policies should be a matter of national shame. We have the wealth and means to do great good in the world, but we choose not to. Very few people seem to care. This discussion isn't even on our national radar. Neither of our two major political parties has the slightest interest in the matter.
