This is a good point. As a good Medium community member, I tried hard for a long time to support the Medium-owned pubs. I read faithfully, highlighted, commented, etc.

But I rarely, with a couple important exceptions, felt heard or appreciated. Writers mostly never even applauded for my comments to acknowledge that they had read them, let alone responded. Given lack of response is antithetical to the ordinary Medium ethos, it was very difficult for me to stay motivated to engage.

Add to that that I was never invited to contribute to a Medium publication and presume I probably never will be. Sooo … As much as I did my best as a Medium citizen, keeping my heart in it was difficult.
