This inexplicable action by the State of Texas is just one in another of a long line of pandemic mismanagement decisions. According to reporting in the Guardian today, “Texas’s hands-off approach has rallied the virus.”

DSHS says the covid-19 pandemic in the United States is at its worst in Texas. In many areas, hospitals are over capacity, and doctors are being forced to make care-rationing decisions.

It’s beyond me why partisan politics are playing a role in pandemic management in some states, but they clearly are in Texas, and the people suffering from it are Texans in general, with Texans of color being hit disproportionately.
