This idea that people don't know what love means and that same-sex couples are incapable of real love is both astonishing and arrogant.
When I wrote an article decrying Pope Francis's recent appointment of a strident homophobic priest to a bishop's seat in Ohio, this same theme struck me so hard.
This priest went to the troubole of self publishing his academic paper on Amazon, in which he explains (among other things) that celibate gay men must not be allowed to train for or enter the priesthood because their vows of celibacy would not represent a sacrifice, because love between people of the same sex isn't as meaninful or valid as love between people of the opposite sex.
Astonishing ignorance!
Paging conservative Christians. We don't have any trouble understanding what love means. We think you're just trying to deny that we experience it, beause it suits your homophobic agenda.
How about you wake up and smell the coffee? Like countless loving, same-sex couples do every morning as they go about their loving lives?
