This almost feels like using a tool that isn’t quite right to attack a serious problem for which we have no other tool.
I think if you ask most people what they are most concerned about with respect to Google, it’s loss of privacy.
I love how effective Google’s search and other operations are, but I’m deeply uneasy about the privacy I give up using those services. Occasionally, indirectly, I see how much Google knows about me, just by how it offers up particular services and ads.
Then I start thinking about using DuckDuckGo.
But I don’t, because Google is so damn good at what they do. I wish there were some legal way to go after their privacy invasion problem directly.
This antitrust action is interesting and might do some good, but will it really get at the big problem most people are most worried about?
