Things aren’t so different where I live in rural Michigan. We get trucks running around with Confederate flags flapping in the wind even though we live on a line of latitude that’s actually north of Toronto. Most local cemeteries have a corner for Civil War dead — Union soldiers all, of course.

The Confederate flags mean racism, and everyone knows it.

What’s really weird is that white people are in a super majority around here. Seeing Black faces is rare. Same for Latino people and Asians.

Yet these morons organize their militias, wave racist symbols, and whine that their rights as white people are somehow being eroded —while making sure everyone knows how much they hate trans and gay people.

A group of them even plotted to kidnap our Democratic governor and "try" her for "treason." Most of that group are now cooling their heels in prison, but plenty more morons are stepping up to spew hate.
