Things are mad here in the US right now too. Our federal government has taken almost no steps to contain the virus within the United States or to flatten the curve in any meaningful way.
Some states, municipalities, and private organizations are closing facilities and major public events, but they aren’t doing so with the guidance of or at the direction of federal policy authorities.
Efforts are scattershot at best. In many areas of the country, nothing is being done at all.
Indeed, messages are contradictory. Devin Nunez, an influential (some would say loudmouth) member of Congress, just went on a popular Fox News program and urged Americans to go out and eat at restaurants and pubs.
Panic here is also being driven by a palpable lack of leadership.
I suspect Boris Johnson and Donald Trump are alike in very important ways when it comes to informing themselves about to deal with a crisis like this.
As members of the elite, they simply don’t care about what happens to the little people. They see themselves as above all that.
