They're calling it a rainbow wave, and while that might not be strictly accurate on a pragmatic level, the symbolism of hope embodied by the election of LGBTQ candidates is strong.

If trans candidates can be given the nod by voters even in very conservative states, that's reason to believe the current political anti-LGBTQ backlash does not have real legs.
