Many of the younger Act Up generation in New York City are also part of movements like Reclaim Pride, fighting against the mainstreaming and watering-down of not just Pride events, but LGBTQ activism/advocacy in general.
They're part of up until now has been radical left-wing pressure to keep queer advocacy in the US intersectional and truly inclusive.
But with Trump's victory, focus will have to change. I desperately hope that doesn't mean more pressure to assimilate and move to the right.
