There’s a fast food chain popular in Detroit that makes burgers from beef byproducts and secondary cuts. The food is very fatty and very unhealthy, and very very very cheap. (You could buy more food than you would probably care to eat for under $3.)
They make McDonald’s look luxurious and pricey.
But when you live in a neighborhood without a grocery store, when you make minimum wage if you can find a job at all, and when you don’t have access to motorized transportation, you have to eat something and you have to feed your kids something.
So of course this chain is popular.
I know people who villainize it, who disrespect the people who own it and run it.
But you know what? They’re feeding people who need to eat. Not too many people do that.
