Then there's Florida's Don't Say Gay law, expected to pass any day now, which will prohibit classroom discussion of transgender and gay people, even if that discussion is initiated by students. It looks like it will even prevent gay teachers from discussing their own families or their own spouses, even if they are legally married. This makes the previous generation of "no promo homo" laws look mild.

And borrowing a tactic from Texas, Florida is empowering the law with the possibility of lawsuits and so forth. Even if they want to break the rules, schools are going to have a very very difficult time doing it because the possibility of financial disaster will hang over their heads.

Republicans and other conservatives are becoming more vicious and nasty by the day.
