The United States has politically, militarily, and economically dominated Central America since forever.
That big canal cut through the isthmus (that we all rely on for cheap goods produced in developing nations where exploitative labor is cheap) didn’t happen by accident.
We don’t have cheap bananas in all our grocery stores by accident.
Going further back, enslaved African people populating Central America did not happen by accident.
And now we want to pretend like Central America isn’t our problem? We want to tell people with a legal right to apply for asylum that they should not come?
Meh. “You break it you buy it" ought to mean something, even if we can’t wrap our minds around the fact that people who live in Central America are human beings just like people who live in North America.
