The power of workers as consumers has long been understood by business magnates. Henry Ford famously understood it and harnessed it. And while he might have been motivated to better the conditions of workers for that reason, such benevolence never endures.

Only a powerful labor movement consisting of workers and consumers working together can check the worst impulses of mega wealthy capitalists.
