The novel is so powerful that I almost didn't click to read your story. I'm certainly glad I read the novel, and I would never undo that, but I can't help feeling an echo of the profound sadness that filled me as a teenager thinking about the novel.

I haven't read it since, because I really haven't wanted to feel that again. Maybe I should.
