The most frequent suggestion I make to writers who submit to Prism & Pen is to make their titles more specific and more compelling. It's like this unending chore I do multiple times a day. "No, people are not likely to read your story if they don't know what it's really about. No, they are unlikely to see your subtitle, especially considering recent Medium feed changes."

"Gender and my Family" is a weak title because you don't know what you'd be reading if you clicked. "Why I Haven't Told My Kid They're Transgender," is a great title. Not only is it a little bit provocative, but it tells you exactly what you'll be getting.

Then begins the process of clarifying and strengthening the actual text ... Lol!
