The moon appearing larger on the horizon is some sort of a big deal for people who believe in a flat earth. I can't remember exactly why, and since I'm only one quarter into my first cup of coffee of the morning, I'm not motivated to go look and refresh my memory, lol. But I've done that rolled up paper experiment as part of a series of experiments to demonstrate to a friend's brother that the earth really isn't flat.
The experiments did not convince him, but my friend and I had a really good time and learned a lot.
