The magical phrase "fake news" is all it takes for a Trump supporter / Fox News viewer to dismiss reports they would rather not hear. I should know, I live in an area where Fox News and Trump supporters dominate.

Nobody here is talking about the bombshell news yesterday. If anybody so much is brings it up, a single utterance of "fake news" is all it takes to end the conversation.

You can watch their eyes turn off and their minds shut down the moment those magic words are uttered.

And you can hear the conversation cut off cold for a few beats before somebody changes the subject to this year's corn price prospects or the high price of gas.
