The idea that chosen religious beliefs are an identity similar to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation is something I've never understood.

Every other category of human idea is subject to criticism and discussion.

Yet slapped the label of religion on a set of ideas, and suddenly you're supposed to respect them ... just because.

Well, I refuse. Religion is not an identity like the identities I cited above. Anyone who claims otherwise doesn't know how to think.
