The idea that any government agency, including the governors of schools, should have the power to permit or not to permit trans people to be trans people is ... It's hard to find the words, but it's certainly a conservative, authoritarian horror show. The kind of thinking that even allows such a possibility is hard to reconcile as originating from people who theoretically crave and value a free society and personal liberty.

That kind of thinking says, we the government have the right to control you and force you to be who we insist you be, rather than who you are.
