The idea that a woman, or anyone, would not care about the financial stability of their partner is just laughable.

I love the point that you make that if men weren’t interested in going out with women who had not yet financially established themselves, charges of gold digging wouldn’t even be possible.

As a young man, I once went out with and became partners with a much older man. Whispers of “gold digger” followed us everywhere.

Hell, he wasn’t even wealthy. He was just comfortable and secure.

What the hell was I supposed to do? Not fall in love with him because he had more money than I did?

We ignored the whispers, but that doesn’t mean that they weren’t still annoying.
