The idea of DTS being racist doesn't surprise me in the least, though Chafer's lack of academic background does. Blind leading the blind much?

What really shocks me is Scofield. The non-Evangelical reader may not appreciate just how central his study Bible is to the movement, but to say it shapes and forms almost every aspect of modern Evangelical culture is not an understatement.

I always presumed Scofield was a scholar who studied the Bible from primary sources and had the academic background to dig for cultural connotation and comparative reasoning.

The fact that he was just winging it, but that his commentary is received practically literally as "gospel" by Evangelical leaders everywhere is ... I can't even find the right words to express right now.
