The “good mom” phenomenon is a big problem among American Catholics, the vast majority of whom (close to 80% according to Pew) ignore Church teachings to support LGBTQ people and legal equality. The trouble is that the hierarchy of the Church is deeply conservative, even so-called liberals. Fr. James Martin, often cited as being “pro LGBT,” has written articles telling people that the Church’s language about grave depravity and intrinsic disorder is OK.

Of course, it isn’t OK — not if you’re a a kid who’s being taught that those words apply to you or to your classmates.

So, the people I’m trying to reach with article are those moms and other ordinary Catholics who ALREADY believe the hierarchy are wrong, but who continue to support the Church.

My question to them is, what’s next? You know this stuff is wrong. What are you gonna do about it?
