The first time I ever directly heard the word woke was a few years ago from a Black lesbian writer in the project that eventually became Prism & Pen.

Imagine my surprise that it's now also used as a slur against me and anyone else who insists on LGBTQ equality.

Bizarre doesn't even begin to cover it.
