The “every state gets two senators” practice was a bad compromise that every American founder recognized as fundamentally undemocratic.

They just didn’t care.

Popular will was never an overarching concern of the white, wealthy, aristocratic landowners who crafted the Republic and the political rules we still live by today. The Constitution intentionally promotes minority rule by a privileged elite.

I should think it’s high time we got around to fixing that — especially given how you point out that the minority rule fostered today is overwhelmingly a racist rule.
