The comments truly are another world.

Medium is pretty tame, at least in my experience, but when I promote my Medium articles on Facebook, oh the comments!

And I’m not talking about Facebook in general. I’m talking about people who frequent LGBTQ spaces on Facebook.

I’ve stopped being surprised by how racist/homophobic/transphobic so many self-identified progressive, LGBTQ people are, but it’s a sad truth that white queer people can be every bit as defensive about American racism as anyone else in this flawed country of ours.

It doesn’t take much more than a peek into comments sections to see that in action.
