The author was writing about charismatic Christians in particular, without acknowledging that charismatic Christians are in general vicious bigots and pretty horrible people — which I know from decades of direct, personal experience on the receiving of their bigotry. Snap judgment? No, decades have taught me that people who speak in tongues are monsters.
