The artists you described were Christians, and the music was used for sacred purposes, but that doesn't make it Christian. For something to be Christian, it has to espouse some kind of Christian point of view. If I go into Chick-fil-A, clearly I'm not having a Christian experience. Yet the chicken sandwich I would have eaten would have been as Christian, given the source, as the art you are describing.
