That's now officially K through 12 in Florida schools, although it has informally been K through 12 pretty much all along.

One of my recent stories features a fifth grade teacher essentially forced to resign by a religious fanatic school Board member who has repeatedly and apparently unironically claimed that God appointed her to the school board ... to "keep these minorities from infiltrating."

The teacher who resigned was under formal investigation for the high crime of showing a Disney movie about environmental science to her class that was studying environmental science.

The problem? The film has a gay character, and something like 2 minutes and 21 seconds of subplot about the gay character's crush.

For that, the teacher was villainized in her community and is being subjected to a state investigation that could result in criminal charges.
