That is sadly what things probably really boil down to, although I'm sure the people who tried to stop the play don't consciously think of it that way. Sigh.
I'm thinking of the no-doubt unconscious non sequitur when the school district told reporters that no community members had objected to the cancellation, despite the fact that many community members had objected.
District officials apparently don't consider LGBTQ people or allies to be true members of their community, which is probably an unconscious assumption, but one that they clearly vocalized.
