That comment doesn't surprise me even a little. It is entirely ordinary and common among conservative U.S. Christians.

The weird thing is that despite how anti-semitic the comment is, conservative U.S. Christians like to think of themselves as not being anti-semitic at all. They fervently support the state of Israel for eschatological reasons, even as they work hard to convert Jews to Christianity on the grounds the Jews have rejected God and must be saved.

How weird is that? I don't know, but I know that they are sprouting the same arguments and theologies that led directly to anti-semitism in Europe, culminating in the Holocaust.
