Thanks very much for this thoughtful and touching story. The subject of love between men is complex, and sometimes has been almost impossible to talk about because of subtle (or not so subtle!) homophobia.

I'm fascinated by how the world you lived in in the late 1950s was a bit different in that respect. Perhaps because homosexuality was far less openly acknowledged?
