Thanks. No, I didn’t experience any real horrors, though I saw plenty. I saw too many people living on the fringes abandoned and alone, vulnerable to abuse. Easy prey. It wasn’t the sex work itself that was so horrible (that part never felt so horrible to me), it was the fact of stepping into a world without protection from society. Enforced rules of civility flew out the window. The illicit nature of the business made it dangerous, not so much the business itself.
I’m trying to neither glamorize or vilify that world. Just to shine a light on it.
