I think telling personal stories about where we’ve been is important because it gives perspective, not just about what happened, but about how it happened and how it touched people.

I don’t pretend to be a historian. I honestly don’t even know how significant that protest was in the scheme of the pharmaceutical fight. It was one of many such, after all.

I do know how it changed me and how it affected others I know. That’s what I’m qualified to talk about.

I think telling our personal stories gives people, especially young people, a lens through which they can view the past that differs from the lens they’re handed by our hetero-normative society.

Oh, by the way. I’m delving a little into more formal history later this afternoon with a story I’ve already submitted to Darren Stehle . If you see it, do be kind. I’m an amateur, after all! ;-)

Eric Griggs has already seen part of it before, I suspect, but I’ve updated it considerably and illustrated it.
