Thanks! :-) I had to stretch for this one, not being a visual artist. I spent a lot of time with a NYC-based oil portraitist who helped me with accuracy, and I immersed myself in reams of art journals from the era. It was either that or make David a writer, which I felt was cliche.Too many writers write about writers. Then, once I got halfway through the research, the whole looking/seeing thing popped for me, and there was no going back. The novel had to be about painting.
