Thanks for your input! (From somebody who factors quadratics for fun, thinks solving integrals is way more entertaining than Sudoku, and who laughed in delighted astonishment when I learned to do basic arithmetical operations with countable infinities.)

But my inner math geek aside, yes! As a society, and as parents, we should be valuing expertise. Thank you for reminding me of that. It would have added value to my story if I thought about it at the time.
