Thanks for the review! I barely remember the movie, it made so little impression on me during its 90s run.

I think the general take by gay men at the time was astonishment that such a film could be made, then a bit of disappointment that it was so stereotypical and unrepresentative.

One 90s film we did love, and that may or may not have held up more gracefully, is "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar."

I'd love to see your take on that.
