Thanks for posting this, Mateja Klaric. I write prolifically on Medium, both fiction and non, aiming for the highest possible quality.

I’ve never locked a story and never intend to.

It pains me to see Medium pushing locked schlock over high-quality work.

But there you have it. I read a piece yesterday about HIV/AIDS that was just awful. A locked piece obviously put together by the numbers by some sort of “content marketing” person. Plastic, antiseptic, and almost meaningless.

Today is World AIDS Day. A pretty big deal. I wrote a powerful piece from a personal perspective that people tell me is very moving. It’s being read out loud today at a couple events.

But will Medium distribute it? Apparently not. Locked pieces take priority.

Thank god for Twitter and Facebook is all I can say, otherwise I wouldn’t have much readership at all. Oh, and speaking of Adam, Diabetic Cyborg, thanks to him too! He’s always fast to post story links to Facebook and Twitter!
