Thank you, Thomas. It does see mystifying that the Catholic Church is so slow to adapt itself to new human knowledge discovered by the scientific process. Conservative Christians like the Baptists I was raised with are just as anti-science. Evangelical Protestants in the United States are highly likely to be taught in church to believe the universe is only 6,000 years old, that Noah's flood carved out the Grand Canyon, and that species do not evolve. Rejecting human knowledge and the process by which it is acquired is just one way religious people justify persecuting queer people like me. I wish they would stop.
