This hidden abuse is incredibly disturbing, to the point of being shocking.

The American prison industrial complex is a national shame, the mass incarceration of people of color being something no one should stand for. Forced sterilization of women, depriving them of their most innate and profound human rights, is intolerable.

We must do better as a people, and perhaps shining a light on these abuses can be a start.
