Thank you for writing this! I remember sitting around the dinner table so many times with my Jewish husband and his Jewish friends, a very long time ago. I remember how at least in New York City at that time, Jewish people often criticized, sometimes quite passionately, the actions of the State of Israel toward the Palestinian people.

I don't know that Jewish people today would feel quite as free to do that. Judging by your essay, I'd say probably not.
