Thank you for writing this! I was almost completely unfamiliar with the subject until a few weeks ago when an organization of Black Arab women saw some of my writing about a gay refugee from Sudan who had suffered terrible violence in his own country and at the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.
Despite this young man's impressive self-advocacy, and despite my working to publicize his plight, nobody could or would step up for him.
Except for those Black Arab women.
I'm not free to reveal many details right now because the situation is still unfolding, but they didn't just step up. They reached out to take care of him in so many ways.
I know that's only tangentially about what your article is about, but I really felt like I needed to leave this comment.
