The Russian government has cooperated with the semi-independent Chechen Republican, sending back gay people who have fled torture and execution there.

Now, declaring anything LGBTQ to be extremist, the Russian judiciary as effectively declared an open season on queer Russians everywhere.

It's worth noting, and should be noted, that mainstream Republicans and conservative Christians in the United States regularly applaud Russia's severe mistreatment of LGBTQ people.

But Russia is doing now is where the right wants to take us.
