Thank you for this fascinating history, and I think this point is so critical.
Trans people, people who experience their own gender as different from their sex assigned at birth, are a common part of the human experience, across societies and about as far back in time as we're able to peer.
Suppressing that common human experience has to be a political act, and people urging suppression have to have a primarily political agenda.
Regardless of the ideas they hang their agendas on, I think we need to focus on the common human experience. Not only is that what ultimately matters, it's what can move people's hearts.
