Thank you for this. Many of the points are quite important. Let’s also think about accessibility for people with disabilities.

For example, I have a form of autism that makes me very prone to visual overload. Lots of bright colors in designs can make me physically nauseated.

That’s one of the reasons I prefer reading over film and other visual media.

But lately, I have loaded articles on Medium that have such bright background colors and other effects that I just could not make myself finish the story.

Now that we all have a little more control over what our stories look like, maybe we can try to discipline ourselves to tone it down enough to accommodate everyone.
