Thank you for the mention. Honestly, I didn't think anybody noticed I regularly check in on comments sections of articles after we publish them. But it's a daily part of my "job."

That's not really difficult, though, so much as a little time-consuming. What's harder is balancing P&P's intended look and feel with a desire to amplify as many authentic voices as possible.

We want to look and feel diverse and inclusive. We want to highlight as many different "types" of queer voices as we can. So our editorial hand in terms of political and ideological positions has always been very light.

We rarely turn down articles based on ideology, but the handful of times we have done so has been because of the concern you pointed out: we don't want to publish stories we feel can be very unhealthy for or damaging to members of our communities.

I think we've set the bar of what that means very high. The balance usually tips for us in favor of publishing.

Still, it's something I think about a lot, especially when looking at articles submitted about controversial issues.
