On a personal note, I want you to see this comment from Mehmet in which he replies to Dennett in a way that makes it sound like battling homophobia runs contrary to diversity:

Nobody would ever dare say that tolerating racism or caste-ism is a matter of “diversity.” People’s jaws drop in horror when they hear things like that.

But Mehmet has gone out of his way to encourage and support a homophobic writer. Instead of replying to me, he supported them.

That’s astounding.

What’s going on behind the scenes? Is anyone taking him to task for his very public support of homophobia? When can we LGBTQ people on Medium expect a sincere, complete apology from Illumination with respect to Mehmet’s homophobia?
