Thank you for reporting on this! You know, I've followed this story just a bit through mainstream press reporting, but I didn't read anything about the loud homophobia of the current Argentinian government.

That's quite an important factor to leave out!

I've been following and writing a bit about violent homophobic acts committed by young people in the United States. Such attacks are on the rise, and Trevor Project just released some truly sobering data about the high percentage of queer young people in the United States physically bullied by their peers.

Not surprisingly, rates of violence and bullying are much worse in states where political leaders trash queer people.

It's not all that hard to connect the dots.

I don't know why it is that leaders can't be more responsible. I don't know why they have to speak in ways that stigmatize and make us targets.

They need to become better, more moral human beings, and I hope senseless acts of violence like this can show people how important that is.
