Taking away the ability to draft and edit on the app was really really really shocking. Medium itself had touted this for years as an important function of the platform.
This is just another example of how in recent times Medium has shown shocking contempt for us writers. I've personally experienced how they don't treat us as human beings but as mere cogs in a machine.
It's distressing, and it makes me not enjoy Medium any longer. I used to feel like I was part of a team, even a family in some respect. But Medium's increasingly contemptuous management decisions have taken that feeling for me completely.
Nothing could illustrate that better than the completely meaningless reply they gave to you. It's just as meaningless as when they made the announcement that they were disabled writing and editing in the app. They didn't explain why or even try to explain why. They just engaged in vapid corporate nothing-speak. For a writing platform, Medium seems to have a distressing lack of people in management who know how to write clearly and actually communicate.
Every writer I know on Medium is appalled by this decision, and nobody has the least idea why Medium made the decision, because Medium managers will not tell us.
Because we don't matter, because Medium increasingly treats us with contempt, because that's just the way things are now.
