Speaking in tongues, faith healing, and other "charismatic" nonsense like that is probably Christianity at its very worst and most stupid.
I haven't been in a congregation where people spoke in tongues since I was a boy. My family's own Christianity disapproved of speaking in tongues.
But I have witnessed it, I have been in the occasional congregation where it's happened and let me tell you something.
People who speak in tongues, anoint with oil and do faith healing, whatever similar practices, are some of the most stupid, superstitious idiots I've never been around.
I don't know what's worse, the Pentecostals who claim that tongues are real languages or the ones who admit that they aren't and they just like doing that stupid shit. Either way, they're complete idiots, superstitious fools.
One of Christianity's biggest problems is a magical mindset, and this just really tops the cake.
I did an article, a couple years ago I guess, about a church congregation that beat up a gay couple in church. Before the beating, the congregation had been "speaking in tongues," throwing their arms about wildly, and acting generally like deranged animals.
And that's pretty much what they are. Just watching the video of them acting like that is enough to tell you that they are some sick pieces of shit.
