Somebody should tell John Kelly that studies have shown Spanish-speaking immigrants today show exactly the same pattern as German-speaking immigrants in the late 19th century.

Data show that first-generation adult immigrants have a very hard time adopting English, but that the second generation speaks English at universal levels. That applies as equally to German immigrants in the 1890s and Spanish-speaking immigrants today.

Claiming that Spanish-speaking immigrants cannot or will not adopt English or American culture is ignorant fear-mongering. It’s also old and tired fear-mongering.
